Though the summer months offer much needed respite from the rigors of academics, the guidance department would like to remind you that the post-secondary planning process doesn't actually end with the close of the school year. With that in mind, we strongly suggest you use this time to conduct some college research independently so you will be prepared to make informed choices when the new school year begins. We have prepared some tips to get you started with this process.
When school resumes, schedule an appointment with your guidance counselor early on in the year. It is your responsibility to make an appointment with your guidance counselor. Meetings with college advisors from outside agencies do not replace meetings with your guidance counselor. Please be aware that your counselor's role is to assist you with this process through discussion, dissemination of information, and by providing you with additional resources for exploration. We cannot do your research for you. You are expected to be an active participant in this process!
